A Clever Nightlight!

Posted November 17, 2009

Yesterday I learned about goodnitelite.com.  Here you can purchase a nightlight which shines like a moon from bedtime on, until the time parents set to be breakfast time - when the nightlite glows to a sun.  Now her child knows he can get up and call or come out of his room.  I love this idea and it will work for children who can't yet read a clock. In fact she has two of them and is going to experiment with using one at naptime, too.

Please let me know if you have this product and how it works for you.

Hi Kitty, there is another product out there that is similiar, but likely more expensive. It is an actual clock, but it has a bunny on it. When the bunny is ‘walking’ it’s time to get up. When bunny is in bed, it is sleep time and you should stay in bed. Parents can set the time that the the child can get up on this clock. What a great idea!  My 3 year old is always waking up before 7am (designated wake up time) and I’m having a heck of a time getting him to wait until then…today he told me that there was a 7 on his humidifier so it was time to wake up!?  AKKK!  I’ve already ordered it…thanks for the tip Kitty!

I saw your blog email at 5:15 am one morning and ordered it right away.  Our two year old had been waking up at that time for the last several months.  She used to be 7-7 like clockwork and gradually over time it kept getting earlier and earlier and we could not keep her in her room to stay until it was the designated time to wake up.

She absolutely LOVES the night light and we now gone from 5:15 am to 6:45 am.  I know there are times that she wake up “before the sun comes up” but she stays in bed until the moon changes to the sun.

I have recommended it to several other friends and they are all have great success with this night light.

Thank you so much for passing this information along.
